The man was being held in lieu of a $4 million bond, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A man who was wanted on a warrant for a murder in Ohio was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Meriden, according to police.

Members of the Meriden Crime Suppression Unit saw a man walking in the area of Pratt Street and Mill Street on May 12 who matched the description of a suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the evening on the green by Mill Street, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.

McKay said officers tried to contact the man, later identified as Khaliq Hunt, who ran away after seeing police.

After a brief foot chase, McKay said Hunt was apprehended by members of the CSU and the patrol division.

During the arrest, McKay said Hunt was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol and drugs that he discarded while fleeing. He did not possess a valid pistol permit as required under Connecticut law, according to McKay.

McKay said officers also determined that Hunt had an active arrest warrant out of Ohio for murder.

Hunt was taken to Meriden police headquarters for processing, where he was charged with fugitive from justice, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of narcotics, interfering with police, and failure to use crosswalk. He is being held in lieu of a $4 million bond and is currently awaiting extradition, according to McKay.
