Merger Considered for Meriden and New Britain/Berlin YMCAs

MERIDEN, CT - The YMCAs of Meriden and New Britain/Berlin are considering a merger, officials announced.
John Benigni, executive director of the Meriden Y, has been running both facilities since March 1, when former New Britain/Berlin executive director Rich McGarty left for a new job, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
No final decision has been reached, but the boards of both facilities hope that if a merger can be accomplished, that there would be no staff or program reductions in the communities.
