Meriden Career Criminal Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

The bank robbery happened in September in Meriden. He was apprehended shortly after. This will be his third federal bank robbery conviction.

A Meriden career criminal pleaded guilty to robbing the TD Bank on East Main Street on Sept. 22.

Michael Maslar, 58, pleaded guilty in U.S. District court to one count of bank robbery.

Maslar wore a pillowcase with holes on his head and demanded money from bank employees, said Tom Carson U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut spokesman. He also threatened that he had a gun.

Employees gave him $5,658 and he left. He was arrested by Meriden Police shortly after.

Maslar have two prior federal convictions for bank robbery along with convictions for involuntary manslaughter and assault.

He was sentenced to more than 13 years in federal prison after he robbed a Meriden bank on Sept. 11, 2011. He was released from prison in January 2014.

Maslar faces up to 20 years in prison for the current case.
