Meriden City Manager Involved In ‘Police Incident’: Officials
An Acting City Manager has been named until a special City Council meeting is held, according to officials.

MERIDEN, CT — A “police incident” involving Meriden City Manager Timothy Coon has prompted a special meeting of the City Council, according to officials.
“City leadership and the City Council are aware of a police incident involving the City Manager and are currently gathering pertinent information for its Special Meeting,” according to a joint statement issued by City Council Majority Leader Sonya Jelks and Minority Leader Dan Brunet.
The special meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, both virtually and in-person in the council chambers.

“Until the Council meets on Monday, Meriden Police Chief Roberto Rosado will serve as Acting City Manager.”
Coon had been placed on administrative leave earlier this year after being charged with DUI in connection with a wrong-way crash in Wethersfield.

Coon was arrested after state police said he was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 3 around 1:50 a.m. on April 26, and crashed when trying to enter the off-ramp onto Route 2, the Record-Journal previously reported.
Coon remained in his position, and the City Council unanimously voted to extend his contract by two years in August, according to the Record-Journal.
