Meriden Council Member Texts Ex-Wife over Dog, Gets Arrested: Cops

She got the dog in their divorce decree.

Meriden, CT - Republican City Council Member Daniel Brunet - the Meriden governing body's minority leader - was arrested Tuesday after he repeatedly texted his ex-wife concerning the dog she got in the divorce decree.

Brunet was charged with second degree misdemeanor harassment over the texts, and on Wednesday a judge issued an order of protection against him which bans him from any contact with his former wife, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

The incident began on June 16, when Brunet is alleged to have sent a text about the dog to his former wife, who notified the police. Though reportedly warned not to continue contacting her, he allegedly continued and was arrested.
