Meriden Driver Freed From Underneath Car After Southington Crash
The crash took place on Sunday, police said

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Police and citizens teamed up to free a driver who was pinned underneath a car after a crash on Sunday, according to a news release. On Sunday at 2:01 a.m., officers responded to a single-car motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Savage Street and Meriden Avenue, police said.
It appeared Vanessa Volpe, age 30, of Meriden, was operating her 2016 Acura TLX east on Savage Street, where she traveled into the intersection with Meriden Avenue and then left the roadway, police said. The vehicle entered the front yard of 1307 Meriden Avenue and rolled over, police said. (To sign up for Meriden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Volpe was partially ejected from the vehicle and became trapped underneath, police said.

First-responders and citizens were able to lift the vehicle and free Volpe, police said.
Volpe suffered serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star helicopter, police said. The Southington Police Accident Investigation Team was dispatched to the scene and assumed the investigation.
