Meriden Humane Society Issues Statement on Forgery Arrest of Director

"We would never put the lives of these animals, their adoptive families, our staff, volunteers & the community in jeopardy," officials wrote

MERIDEN, CT — The Meriden Humane Society took to its Facebook page late Wednesday to respond to the arrest of its Director Marlena DiBianco on an alleged charge of forgery.

DiBianco is accused of forging a rabies vaccination certificate for an animal that had not been vaccinated, according to police.

"As far as we can tell based solely on media reports; this is a singular case, a single animal," wrote humane society officials on Facebook. "Our director and her board are still awaiting an opportunity to review the warrant. In fact, the allegations hit media outlets and social media before Marlena had left the police station where she was released on a non surety bond.
