Meriden I-691 Crash Leaves 1 Injured [Update]

A car careened 60 feet down an embankment in the Tuesday morning crash.

MERIDEN, CT - A Waterbury man was seriously injured when a car went down an embankment on I-691 east Tuesday morning, according to state police. The crash, near exit 4 at 9 a.m., required firefighters to extricate the individual from the car.

Alexander Tenore, 29, of Waterbury, was driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer and struck a rope guardrail on the right shoulder, then careened 60 feet down the embankment. The driver "possibly...sustained serious injuries" and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, according to police.

The highway's right lane remained closed Tuesday morning. The case is under investigation.
