Meriden Man Assaulted Woman, Hit Officer With Car: Wallingford PD
The man is accused of repeatedly punching a woman in the head while she was on the ground and striking an officer with a car, police said.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Meriden man is accused of assaulting a woman and striking an officer with a vehicle while speeding away last month, according to police. Warren Watson, 29, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant in connection to an incident that occurred Feb. 17 in Wallingford. Police responded to the area of 340 North Colony Road on the report of a man assaulting a woman in a business parking lot, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.
A witness told police that the man was repeatedly punching a woman in the head while she was on the ground and that he was dragging her on the sidewalk, according to Bradley. The witness told the first-arriving officer that the suspect was walking toward the parking lot of Auto Zone.
“The officer ran after the suspect while ordering him to stop,” Bradley wrote in a press release. “The suspect disregarded the officer’s orders and ran towards a vehicle. He got into the vehicle, placed it into reverse and backed at a high rate of speed striking the officer. He then looked at the officer and took off at a high rate of speed.”
