Meriden Man Charged With Firing Gun At Car: Police

MERIDEN, CT — A city man is facing charges that he shot at another man in a car in October, according to a police Facebook post. Police received a shots=fired call for the area of Broad Street at Camp Street on Oct. 7.

Officers arrived and found shell casings but did not locate a victim. A while later, the victim contacted police and told them he was the target of the shots-fired incident.

The victim told police the incident began on North Broad Street when another car began following him, swerving and throwing items at his car. When the victim attempted to get on the highway, the other car cut him off.

A passenger in the car started shooting at his car. The victim was not struck by the gunfire.

Police identified Justice Roman, 19, as a suspect in the case, and a warrant for his arrest was approved.

On Tuesday, Meriden police officers were at New Haven Superior Court for the Connecticut vs. Trevor Outlaw murder trial. The trial detectives spotted Roman sitting in the gallery. He was taken into custody, and two warrants for his arrest were served in Meriden.

Roman was charged with first-degree attempt at criminal assault, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, unlawful discharge, and several motor vehicle charges.

He was held on a combined bond of $260,000.
