Meriden Man Charged with Stabbing at Funeral

Police say an argument at a funeral in North Haven became physical and a man was stabbed several times.

North Haven Police have charged a Meriden man with stabbing another man several times while at a funeral at the All Saints Cemetery on Middletown Avenue in North Haven.

Police said the incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

While attending a funeral, a group of individuals began arguing and the argument became physical and one man was stabbed several times, according to police.

The stabbing victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the stabbing suspect attempted to flee the scene in the back seat of a limousine. Officers stopped the vehicle near the entrance to the cemetery, and took 54-year-old Robert Ferrie into custody.

Ferrie, a Meriden resident, was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and breach of peace. He was held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday, Oct. 8.
