Meriden Man Sentenced In Unlawful Export Scheme

Two men were sentenced for illegally exporting goods to Pakistan.

HAMDEN, CT — A Meriden man and a Hamden man were each sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after they profited from unlawful exports to Pakistan. The two are Pakistan citizens and lawful permanent U.S. residents.

Muhammad Ismail, 67, of Meriden and his two sons Kamran and Imran Khan exported goods without license to Pakistan in violation of Export Administration Regulations, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Ismail and Kamran Khan pleaded guilty to one count of international money laundering. Imran Khan has pleaded guilty to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and awaits sentencing.
