Meriden Officer Cited for Rescuing Woman

He alerted a sleeping woman whose home was quickly filling with smoke and deadly carbon monoxide.

Officer Fred Rivera knocked loudly on the Debora Blakeslee’s door to alert her that her home was filling with smoke, according to the Record-Journal. She was sleeping before he knocked.

Blakeslee said she likely would’ve suffered carbon monoxide poisoning from her malfunctioning furnace if Rivera didn’t alert her.
