Meriden PD Schedules Annual Service for Abandoned Infant

David Paul, a newborn infant who was abandoned and died from exposure in January 1988 is remembered annually in the service.

The Meriden Police Department will conduct the 28th annual David Paul memorial service on Jan. 4.

David Paul was a newborn infant who was abandoned and died from exposure on Jan. 2, 1988.

Local clergy named the infant. David stands for “God’s beloved” and Paul stands for ”Little Man.”

The general public along with area child-caring facilities, advocates, educators and city officials are invited to the grave-side service, which will commence at 10 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

The short service reaffirms the commitment to children who have been abused and neglected.

In case of inclement weather the service will be held Jan. 5.
