Meriden PD Seizes Stolen Gun in Traffic Stop

Meriden Police seized a stolen handgun and drugs during a traffic stop Nov. 25.

Officers noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of sped in the area of West Main Street and Bradley Avenue around 12:15 p.m., according to the Record-Journal.

The car made an illegal right turn and was pulled over, police said. Police smelled marijuana and learned the driver Isaiah Jones, 33, of New Britain was wanted on two warrants for first-degree escape and robbery.

Jones and more than $1,800 in suspected drug sale proceeds were taken into custody. Officers found a handgun stolen from bristol in a door compartment. Jones and his passenger Jerry Manuel, 34, were arrested for the gun.

Crack cocaine was also discovered, police said.
