Meriden Police Arrest Alleged Bank Robber

The robbery occurred Monday morning at the TD Bank North on East Main Street

Meriden police apprehended a man who is suspected of robbing the TD Bank North on East Main Street Monday morning.

Police were first dispatched to the bank shortly after 9 a.m., said Lt. Salvatore Nesci, police spokesman.

The suspect entered the bank wearing mask and demanded money, Necsi said. He claimed to be in posession of a gun, but no gun was displayed. He took a money pouch filled with money and left.

A witness observed a male suspect flee the area toward the nearby Boston Market Restaurant.

An officer located the suspect behind the restaurant and the suspect tried to make his way on Wilson Avenue., Necsi said. The officer broadcast the suspect’s description and he was apprehended shortly thereafter on Wilson Avenue.

The suspect took a taxi cab to the bank and was attempting to return to the taxi cab when he was apprehended, Nesci said.

The suspect, identified as Michael Maslar, 58, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and interfering with police. He was held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6.
