Meriden Police Capture Alleged Sexual Misconduct Fugitive from Puerto Rico

Roberto Omar Carbonell-Rosado was #13 on Puerto Rico's most wanted list, according to Meriden police.

MERIDEN, CT - A 39-year-old Meriden man, wanted by Puerto Rican authorities for alleged sexual misconduct against a minor, was arrested Tuesday by local police.

Roberto Omar Carbonell-Rosado tried to run from Meriden police Tuesday as they approached him in front of his East Main Street home, but he was quickly apprehended.

He was wanted out of Puerto Rico with a $500,000 bond and was #13 on that country's most wanted list, according to a Meriden police Facebook post.

Details of the case out of Puerto Rico were not immediately available. Police also did not disclose details on the investigation into how Carbonell-Rosado was discovered in Meriden.

Carbonell-Rosado was charged with being a fugitive from justice and will remain in custody pending extradition to Puerto Rico.
