Meriden Police Recover Car Owned by Dead Man

The long deceased body of a man was found in an apartment Wednesday in Meriden.

MERIDEN, CT — Local police say authorities have recovered the car owned by a deceased man whose decomposing body was found Wednesday in a Meriden apartment.

"The blue Nissan Sentra we were looking for was recovered during the overnight hours in Hartford," Meriden police wrote in a Facebook post. "It was unoccupied and will be processed today."

The man's identity has not yet been disclosed, and a homicide investigation is underway.

"At this time we believe that we know the identity of the victim; however, we will not be able to release that information until the identity is confirmed," Meriden police wrote in a statement. "This will be done with the assistance of the State Medical Examiner’s office. Once the identity is confirmed and a proper notification to the victim’s next of kin is made, the identity of the victim will be released."
