Meriden Resident Charged After Southington Counterfeit Incident
2 were charged in an incident over a fake bill in Southington, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Two people were arrested after an incident involving counterfeit money at a Southington restaurant, police said.
Two men were taken into custody Thursday, police said. Police said Daron Cochrane, 29, of Meriden, was charged with first-degree forgery, third-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer and second-degree breach of peace. Jordyn Marineau, 28 of Middletown, was charged with first-degree forgery, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree breach of peace, police said.
The charges resulted from an incident that occurred at 75 Center St. The two became involved in a dispute with the management of 75 Center restaurant after they attempted to pay their bill using a counterfeit $100 bill, police said.

When staff members recognized the bill as counterfeit and confronted Cochrane and Marineau, they paid the bill with "legitimate money," police said.
Staff members told police Cochrane and Marineau were then told they were no longer welcome at the restaurant and they became confrontational, according to a report.

The counterfeit bill was turned over to police and further investigation found the pair to be in possession of four counterfeit $100 bills.
During the arrest Cochrane physically resisted police and attempted to pull away from officers, according to a report.
No injuries were reported.
Marineau was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on July 23, police said. Cochrane was being held Friday on a $10,000 bond and was to appear in court Friday, police said.
