Meriden Teen Charged as Adult in Fatal Stolen Car Crash: Report
The suspect faces manslaughter in connection with the August crash.

MERIDEN, CT — An 18-year-old Meriden teen has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and third-degree larceny in connection with the fatal Aug. 19 stolen car crash that killed 17-year-old passenger Deshawn Jones, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
Rashid Abdul Bashir's were first lodged in juvenile court but have been upgraded to adult court. Additionally, he faces charges of evading responsibility, driving without a license, reckless driving and traveling unreasonably fast, according to the publication. He is next due in court on Feb. 16.
Bashir is accused of stealing a car and crashing into a tree during the early morning hours of the 19th on 200 block of Maple Avenue in Meriden.
