Meriden Woman Embezzled $255K From Local Business: North Haven Police

BREAKING: Police say the accused used the funds for her own personal use.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Meriden woman is accused of embezzling more than $250,000 from a North Haven business, North Haven police said.

Sharon Cordero, 48, of Meriden, was arrested Thursday regarding an embezzlement investigation, police Cordero was arrested after investigators determined she embezzled $255,800 over a five-year period, police said.

Cordero was the bookkeeper for a North Haven business owner, police said. While employed as a bookkeeper, Cordero made deposits into her personal account at the expense of the business, used business funding to pay for her entire health care plan without authorization, and altered business records in an attempt to cover-up the theft, police said.

Cordero is charged with two counts of first-degree larceny and two counts of second-degree larceny. Cordero posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on November 2, 2017.
