Meriden Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-91 In Wallingford

The woman was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she died from her injuries, according to state police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 77-year-old Meriden woman was killed when the vehicle she was operating was traveling in the wrong direction on I-91 in Wallingford and crashed head-on with another vehicle on Sunday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police. Concetta Getman, of Bryon Road, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.

Getman was traveling northbound in the left lane of I-91 South near Exit 15 when her vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle operated by Sachin Patel.

The crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m. and temporarily closed a portion of I-91 in Wallingford.

Patel, 41, and the passenger in his vehicle, 16-year-old Sahil Patel, were both transported to Hartford Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Trooper Joseph Beaudoin at 203-393-4200.
