MidState Offers Cancer Support Services For Hispanic Women
MidState in Meriden will host an open house event to share patient and support services information with Hispanic women.

From Hartford Healthcare: The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at MidState Medical Center is hosting an open house to share patient and support services information with Hispanic women. The event will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Horowitz Conference Center Rooms at MidState Medical Center. Appetizers will be included as well.
The cancer institute is reviving the Hispanic Women’s Cancer Support Group, which is one of the few resources for Hispanic cancer patients/survivors in the region.
Tina Rodriguez, an outreach educator at the MidState cancer institute, is extremely involved in the community and has been awarded multiple awards for her efforts. Rodriguez understands the advantages she has as someone with a clinical and Hispanic background.

“As a Hispanic outreach educator, I have the opportunity to connect with women in the Hispanic community that may have questions or concerns about their health, but due to language barriers are not able to ask or express themselves,” said Rodriguez.
With the open house on Nov. 16, Rodriguez hopes to welcome more women from the Hispanic community to show them they do not have to go through their experiences alone.
