Motorcyclist Killed In Crash In Meriden: Police
The fatal crash involved three vehicles, including a motorcycle, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — A Wallingford man was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday night in Meriden, according to police.
Police received 911 calls of a serious crash involving a motorcycle around 7:10 p.m. in the area of Broad Street at Olive Street.
Arriving officers found that three vehicles were involved and the operator of the motorcycle was trapped under a Chevrolet Impala, according to Meriden police.

Police said Meriden Fire Department personnel lifted the vehicle off the operator. Life-saving measures failed, and the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The motorcycle operator was identified as 40-year-old Jefferey Swift of Wallingford, police said.

The initial investigation found that a 1998 Jeep Cherokee was waiting at the red light at Olive Street and Broad Street, according to police.
“A 2002 Chevrolet Impala was in the far right northbound lane, also stopped for a red light,” police wrote in a news release. “A white Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south on Broad Street. The Jeep began to pull out of Olive Street and the motorcycle struck the front left corner of the Jeep. The operator of the motorcycle lost control, the motorcycle sliding across Broad Street into the stopped Chevrolet Impala, the motorcycle operator slid under the Impala becoming trapped.”
The crash remains under investigation by the Meriden Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. Police are asking anyone with information, or who live or work in the area and may have video footage, to contact Officer Ouellette, Sgt. Hartline or Sgt, Zajac at 203-630-6201.
