Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Pickup Truck: Meriden Police
Police received several 911 calls reporting a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck, according to officials.
MERIDEN, CT — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon in Meriden, according to police.
Police responded around 3:40 p.m. to several 911 calls of a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck at the intersection of East Main Street and Paddock Avenue, according to Sgt. Michael Boothroyd.
Boothroyd said a male motorcyclist was found unresponsive in the roadway of East Main Street and Paddock Avenue intersection.

Meriden Fire Department and Hunter’s Ambulance personnel began life saving measures and the man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, according to Boothroyd.
The motorcycle operator was identified as Juan Cruz, 36, of Meriden, Boothroyd said.

An investigation found that a black Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on East Main Street preparing to make a left turn onto Paddock Avenue in the left turn only lane. An orange Honda CBR600 motorcycle was traveling east on East Main Street.
Boothroyd said several witnesses told police the motorcycle operator was traveling at a high rate of speed for the area just prior to the crash.
This case is being investigated by the Meriden Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
