Obituary: Catherine Marinan, 96, Of Meriden

MERIDEN, CT - Catherine Glasgow Marinan, 96, of Meriden, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, August 24, 2018.
She was born in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada on March 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Mary (nee Muir) and Abram Smith, and was raised in Massena, New York. She was a resident of Meriden since 1946 and was employed by the Meriden Record Journal for 35 years.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Marinan, Sr., her sister May Smith and her brother Alexander Smith as well as family in Canada and Scotland.

She is survived by her five children, her beloved son James Marinan daughters, Catherine Hubball and her husband Jack, Mary Suroweicki and her beloved late husband Benjamin, son Joseph Marinan, Jr. and his wife Donna and son John Marinan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonathan Hubball and Jason Hubball and his fiancée Alesha Kelly, Allison Dale and her husband Jonathan, David Suroweicki, Timothy Suroweicki and his wife Christa and James Suroweicki and his wife Megan O’Rourke, and several great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 22 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements. Should friends desire, please send flowers to a Nursing Home of your choice.
