Obituary: Donald Bilodeau, 87, Of Meriden

"He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Winston AKA- 94."

MERIDEN, CT - Donald F. Bilodeau, 87, of Meriden, CT, husband of Pauline P. Bilodeau, died on November 29, 2017 at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on August 18, 1930, he was the son of Raymond Bilodeau and Margaret Herget Bilodeau Cross.

Mr. Bilodeau retired from Choate Rosemary Hall School and was previously the owner/operator of Office Typewriter Company of Meriden. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Winston AKA- 94. He was a member of the Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365 and a past member and president of the Meriden Lions Club. He loved playing cards, golfing, fishing, hunting and motorcycling. He was always working and creating with his gifted hands and had many hidden talents.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Mabey, Diane Bilodeau Hatfield (Josh) and Lisa Hurst; six sons, Keith Bilodeau (Janice), J. Michael Carson (Brenda), Donald Bilodeau (Tammy), Rick Sierra (Tina), Allan Bilodeau (Kathy) and Kristian Hurst (Elisabeth). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren as well as a sister, Althea Prigitano (Donald) and two brothers, Raymond Bilodeau (Gladys) and Robert Bilodeau (Lena). He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Hiniker.

Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden, CT 06450 on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. Everyone is asked to meet in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
