Obituary: Richard C. Sodins, 51, of Meriden

In general he loved life, loved his beloved Samantha and his children. He was a great friend to so many.

Meriden - Richard C. Sodins, 51, loving sweetheart of Samantha Knapp passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was born in East Haven, CT on May 6, 1967 to the late John J. and Barbara Farrell Sodins. Richie was a self- employed contractor and studied mechanical engineering. He also worked as a Carpenter for Connecticut Basement Systems for 10 years.

Richie loved making wine, boating, seasonal camping at Brialee, snowmobiling in Old Forge, NY, playing darts, flea marketing, horseshoes and music. In general he loved life, loved his beloved Samantha and his children. He was a great friend to so many and always went out of his way to help others.

He was also an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He belonged to the Meriden PBA, Meriden Turner Society and the Wacoma Yacht Club.

He is also survived by a son Richard J. Sodins of North Haven, two daughters, Ashley Sodins of East Haven and Alexandria Sodins of North Haven, a brother Michael Sodins of Orange and a sister Jill Sodins of East Haven. He is also survived by a nephew, Louis Gentile and a niece, Nicole Gentile. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother John P. Sodins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday evening at 7 pm after calling hours from 3:30 to 7 at the East Haven Memorial Longobardi – Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family
