Obituary: Valerie (Val) A. Jones, 61, of Meriden

Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Valerie (Val) A. Jones of Meriden formerly of Guilford passed away after a brief illness at Mid-State Hospital, Meriden. Val was born in New Haven on March 2, 1956, daughter of Frances (Simmie) Thorpe and the late Richard P. Jones. Loving mother of Cassi Clough and her husband Robert of Wallingford. Sister of Debra Thody and her husband Frank of Chandler Az. Beloved Yia – Yia of James and Isabelle Clough.

Predeceased by her step – father Pete Thorpe. Val graduated from Guilford High School class of 1974. She attended The University of New Haven. She also attended the Conn. Culinary institute and worked as a Sous Chef, and later as an Executive Chef both locally, and in Florida. She loved to share her culinary skills with family and friends, and spent her summers in her garden, growing fresh vegetables and herbs to use in her many wonderful dishes.

Val delighted in spending time with her close friends and family, especially her daughter and two grandchildren, as well as visiting her Mother and sister in Arizona. Val was a gentle soul, with a loving nature, and her friends and family were truly Blessed to have her in their lives. Val, My Dear, we miss you already!

Please join her family in a Celebration of Life to share special memories of Val at the Italian American Social Club, 40 Hamre Ln, Branford, CT, 06405 on Fri. February 16 from 4 – 7.
