Obituary: Walter Carlson, 93, Of Meriden

MERIDEN, CT - Walter Carlson, 93, currently of Ashlar Village, Wallingford but longtime resident of Meriden and loving husband of Barbara Carlson, died on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Masonicare Hospice in Wallingford after a brief illness. Born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Walter Carlson and Alice Kilmartin.

He had resided in Plainville, CT and had attended Plainville High School and Porter’s School of Tool Design. Walter was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, retiring after 34 years. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Meriden and was an active member of the Antique Veterans of Meriden and the Knights of Columbus. Walter enjoyed reading, gardening and collecting Native American Aircrafts.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Jan Carlson of Columbus, Ohio, Cindy (Alan) Schupack of Cheshire and Donna (Bill) Rodriguez of Southington; his four grandchildren, Dan (Katie) Schupack of Rochester, MN, Eric (Kate) Schupack of Poundridge, NY, Rebecca Schupack of Baltimore, MD and Elaine Rodriguez of Raleigh, NC; his two great-grandchildren, Ari Schupack of Rochester, MN and Eryn Schupack of Poundridge, NY; and his two nephews, Paul and Jack Benjamin. He was predeceased by his brother, John Benjamin and his sister, Rose Elizabeth Carlson.All services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
