PD: Man Waterboarded Woman in Meriden Days Before Pursuit
The man allegedly waterboarded a woman days before he led police on a pursuit after kidnapping a child.

A Meriden man allegedly waterboarded a woman in a basement days prior to leading police on a nine-mile chase.
Richard Stevenson, 25, was additionally charged this week with tying up a woman he knew in a basement. He put a sock over her mouth and began pouring water quickly to simulate the feeling of drowning, according to the Record-Journal.
He asked the woman where bruises on her leg came from repeatedly and eventually she eventually talked him into letting her go.

Stevenson allegedly attempted to rob a gas station while holding a knife to a child. He has been in custody since May 14. He was additionally charged with intentional cruelty to persons, first-degree unlawful restrain and other charges.
