Pepper Spray Likely Culprit in Meriden Platt H.S. Evacuation

Editor’s note: We ran this story previously, but here it is again in case you missed it.

Platt High School was evacuated Thursday morning after several people began coughing after entering the school.

Pepper spray was likely the cause, according to the Record-Journal. Two people were hospitalized for respiratory issues.

Principal Robert Montemurro smelled something strange and several students complained about itchy eyes and scratchy throats. Students missed the first two class periods. The incident remains under investigation.
