Update: Police Identify Meriden Shooting Victim, Suspect Sought

A man was shot in the chest early Saturday morning.

Update: Police have identified the shooting victim as Victor Nina, 32, of 32 Cook Ave.

Police have a suspect, but no arrest has been made as of Saturday afternoon.

“Although an arrest has not yet been made, we are confident that there is no further threat to the community as it pertains to our investigation,” McKay said.

Original story: Meriden Police are investigating a shooting death that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man Saturday.

Police responded to 32 Cook Ave around 4:47 a.m. after a gunshot was heard, said Sgt. Darrin McKay, police spokesman.

Police found the deceased male who had been shot once in the chest inside one of the apartments.

One crime scene is in the apartment and the other is outside of in the parking lot area, McKay said. The road is open to traffic.

“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are being looked at and at this time our detectives are speaking to numerous people who are all being cooperative in this ongoing investigation,” McKay said.

The victim’s identity isn’t being released until his family is properly notified of his passing.
