Police Investigate String Of Car Fires Set In Meriden

Several cars were destroyed and one person hospitalized in a string of car fires Monday night.

MERIDEN, CT - Police are investigating following incidents of car fires being set Monday night. NBC Connecticut reported that firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire at an apartment complex on Bronson Avenue around 3:15 a.m.

They arrived to find one vehicle consumed by heavy smoke with two other vehicles also on fire. A woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after she tried to move a vehicle that was on fire.

Another vehicle on fire was reported soon thereafter on Hanover Street, a block away from Bronson Avenue, according to WTNH.

A vehicle was also vandalized on Cooke Avenue, but was not set on fire.

Police said that an initial investigation has found that the events are likely related.
