Police Searching for Woman who Attempted Armed Robbery at Meriden Gas Station

The robbery was unsuccessful and occurred on Monday evening.

Meriden Police are searching for a suspect who attempted an armed robbery at the Stop and Shop gas station on Centennial Avenue on Monday, My Record-Journal reports.

According to the paper, the incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. The woman who attempted the robbery approached the clerk at the station after a customer had finished paying, demanding money and threatened to shoot him if he did not pay.

The clerk tried to convince the woman, who appeared nervous, to leave and she soon fled the scene realizing the clerk was not going to pay her.

The woman ran towards Stoddard Drive, the paper reports. Police conducted a search with a K-9 but did not find the woman.

The case was transferred to the detective division and police are trying to obtain security footage.

According to the paper, no money was taken and no injuries were reported at the scene.
