Review Finds Large Problems at Meriden Dispatch Center

Reviews conducted by Meriden’s emergency communications department found several serious issues with the dispatch center.

Investigation efforts were increased after three firefighters were hurt in an East Main Street fire that occurred in September, according to the Record-Journal.

Among some of the findings:

• Absence of standard operating procedures.
• Absence of continuing education and training programs.
• 22 memos issued over past 22 months as the sole means to communicate critical procedure.
