Search Continues for Dog That Killed Southington Yorkshire Terrier
The Hayes family, who moved from Meriden to Southington earlier this year, lost their 2-year-old dog, named Simon, in the attack.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - The search continued Thursday for the 100-pound stray dog that mauled to death Simon, a 2-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Monday afternoon in the backyard of the Southington home of Edward and Kayte Hayes and their children.
An officer with the Southington Police Animal Control unit has searched the Deer Run neighborhood where the attack took place, and the warning about the dangerous, unknown dog remains in effect, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Hayes family was new to the neighborhood, having moved from Meriden to Southington earlier this year, and the community has been very supportive since the incident, according to Kayte Hayes.
Anyone with information about the dog - described as possibly a black Labrador/Boxer mix with tan streaks - is urged to contact Southington Animal Control at 860-628-8053.
