SOUTHINGTON, CT - An unknown large dog mauled to death a Yorkshire terrier in Southington Monday, and police Animal Control officers are warning residents to be on the lookout for the dangerous dog.
The attack occurred Monday afternoon on Deer Run, reports NBC Connecticut News, when the large dog killed 2-year-old Simon, which was owned by Edward and Kayte Hayes.
Edward Hayes described the large dog to NBC Connecticut as possibly a Labrador/Boxer mix, with black with tan streaks. The dog weighed about 100 pounds. Hayes said the Lab/Boxer mix had Simon in its teeth before he was able to separate the two dogs and the large one ran off.
