"This is being treated as a domestic related issue which began last evening," according to McKay. "Sometime last night Mr. Perez followed his ex-girlfriend (who will not be identified) to a local convenience store here in Meriden. Mr. Perez then got out of the vehicle he was driving, confronted his ex-girlfriend, and then forcibly dragged her into his vehicle. "As this was occurring, the male victim (who will not be identified) who was stabbed this morning witnessed the event from inside of the store and he ran outside to assist the female as he is currently in a relationship with her. As the victim approached Mr. Perez, Perez pulled out a knife and began swinging it at the victim who then backed off for fear of being stabbed. Mr. Perez then fled in his vehicle.
"This morning, Perez learned of both the female and the victim’s whereabouts on Lewis Avenue and he went there to confront them. As Perez saw the male victim outside at 170 Lewis Avenue he ran at him with a knife. The male victim fled and Perez gave chase stabbing him multiple times in the area of the home’s front porch. The female stepped in and tried to stop Perez and in doing so she was subsequently cut on her hand."
The male victim suffered serious stab wounds to the upper torso and arm.
Perez is currently being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
