Two Men Arrested for Attacking Donald Trump Supporter in Meriden: Police
A police officers who witnessed the assault intervened to stop the attack.

MERIDEN, CT — Two men have been arrested after police say the attacked a man who was waving an American flag and holding a Donald Trump election sign.
According to police, a Meriden police officer stationed on Hanover Street behind the police station saw the man with the flag and the Trump sign standing on the traffic island at the intersection of Hanover and Colony Street.
The officer, Lieutenant Lawrence Guidobono, then saw a silver vehicle at the same location and saw two men leave the vehicle who began punching and kicking the man holding the flag and the Trump sign. Guidobono intervened and stopped the assault, also apprehending the two perpetrators.

Additional officers arrived on scene to assist with the arrest. The victim told police the two men gave him the finger and he responded, "same to you," when the assault began, authorities said.
One of the perpetrators was in possession of 54 bags of heroin packaged for sale and was also wanted on four separate arrest warrants. The suspect, Anthony Hobdy, 36, of Meriden, was charged with third-degree assault, possession narcotics, and second-degree failure to appear. His bond was set at $54,000.

The second suspect, Wilson Eschevarria, 32, of Meriden, was charged with third-degree assault. His bond was set at $500 and he is expected in court on Nov. 23.

According to police, the victim complained of pain in his ear and head but refused medical attention.
On Friday, police in Old Saybrook were called to the scene of a restaurant for a fight in progress between patrons over the president-elect.
