Wanted Meriden Man Gives Police False Name: Naugatuck PD

The accused is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond, police say.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Meriden man, who is wanted on two active arrest warrants, refused to give Naugatuck Police his name and made a run for it before he was taken into custody, police said.

On Oct. 12 at 7:42 p.m. the officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Hillside Avenue. Luiz Ortiz, 29, of Clinton Avenue, was a passenger of the vehicle, police said. When the Officer attempted to identify the accused he gave a false name, police said.

Ortiz ran from the officer but was taken into custody, police said. When the officer properly identified the accused it was determined he was wanted on two arrest warrants, police said.

Ortiz is held on a $25,000 bond and is charged with interfering with an officer.
