Bridge Joint Repairs on I-84 and Route 8 in Middlebury and Waterbury (ct.gov) — Nighttime lane closures are coming to I-84 and Route 8 in Middlebury from June 28 through October 9, 2026, while the state repairs bridge joints. Work will run Sunday through Thursday nights, 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., so expect changing traffic patterns and slower travel if you commute through these stretches.

Middlebury overpaid voter registrars by $30K over 5 years, first selectman says (ctpost.com) — Middlebury’s first selectman says town voter registrars were overpaid by more than $30,000 over five years and has launched an investigation into how it happened. She’s urging accountability, questioning extra payments beyond the set stipend, and asking the Board of Finance to hold off on any registrar pay increases until more answers emerge.
   

3. LIST: Where to find splash pads in Connecticut this summer (wtnh.com) — Families in Middlebury can cool off at the splash pad at Quassy Amusement Park, which is featured in a statewide roundup of free or low-cost water play spots. Hours, parking rules, and residency requirements vary, so you’ll need to check directly with each location before heading out.
   

4. Class of 2030 Orientation connects new Bobcats with network of support (qu.edu) — A Middlebury student, Ramin Qurbani, is among the incoming Class of 2030 starting Quinnipiac’s accelerated 3+1 computer science honors program, letting him earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in four years. The story describes how orientation connects new Bobcats and their families with campus resources, support networks, and each other before classes begin in August.
