
The only known example of a 1901 “KEATING” motorcycle will be exhibited at this years Motorcycle Mania. This motorcycle was built in 1901 at the Keating Wheel Company in Middletown,CT. One of the first commercially produced motorcycles in the USA. It was patented one year before Indian motorcycle’s 1st patent. Robert M. Keating’s patents were used without permission by Indian and Harley Davidson in the production of their respective models and Keating took them both to court and won both cases for patent infringement. The book “Wheel Man- Robert M. Keating, Pioneer of Bicycles, Motorcycles, and Automobiles”, will also be available for purchase and signing by the author Robert K. Keating.
