2023 Paddle With A Purpose Schedule & Info

From John Hall & The Jonah Center

2023 Paddle With A Purpose Schedule We have set tentative dates for water chestnut pulls in the Floating Meadows. So far, we have scheduled paddles starting on Saturdays -- May 27, June 10, June 24, and July 8. Launch times for these dates will be 9 a.m. Click here for more details.

This Jonah Center paddling schedule will be updated on our website, so check in during the coming weeks to get the latest plans. Please note that updates, plans for paddles in other parts of the river, and weather-related changes may be sent only to those who are on the "paddling" sub-list. If you are unsure whether you are already tagged as a paddler and if you wish to receive these updates, please reply to this message with the word "paddler" and we will make sure you are included on the "paddler" sub-list..

Pre-registration and liability waiver-signing on the Connecticut River Watershed website is recommended. Click "Join" and select the date(s) you want. This helps avoid hassle on the day of the event when you will be busy launching your boat. CRC has kayaks you can borrow, but pre-registration is required to reserve one.

If you would like to explore another part of the river on your own or with a friend and pull or report on the presence of water chestnut plants, that would be much appreciated. Let me know of your interest.

Also, please note that our need for volunteers generally increases from late May (when there are fewer plants) to mid-July when we need more paddlers. If you can join us for multiple Saturday mornings, that will be wonderful. But if you can only join us for one or two events, that will be most helpful in mid-June or later. Thanks for your interest in the effort to preserve our precious waterways.
John Hall
