88-Year-Old Middletown Man Fatally Struck By Car In Plainville: Police

An ID has been released by police.

PLAINVILLE, CT — Richard Sederquist, 88, of Middletown, was killed after being struck by a vehicle, police said.

At 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, the Plainville Police Department responded to New Britain Ave. (Rte. 372) for a motor vehicle accident involving a struck pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda HR-V was driving eastbound on New Britain Avenue and struck an 88-year-old male in the area of 440 New Britain Ave., police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and has been cooperative with the police investigation, police added.

The 88-year-old male sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital by an AMR ambulance.

Sederquist died at the hospital several hours later, police said.
