1. Middlesex State's Attorney Reappointed (patch.com) — Middletown residents will continue to see State’s Attorney Michael A. Gailor overseeing prosecutions for the Middlesex Judicial District based in town, following his unanimous reappointment to a new five-year term. His role includes supervising cases at Superior Court for the Judicial District of Middlesex at Middletown, the local Geographical Area No. 9 court, and juvenile matters.    

2. 9 Middletown restaurants cited for serious violations during May health inspections (thehour.com) — Middletown’s Health Department cited nine of 36 food establishments for serious “priority” violations in May, mostly involving unsafe food temperatures and sanitizer problems. Local spots including Big Cheese Pizza, Hachi, Himalayan Tibetan Nepali, Krust, Lino’s at Xavier, Lolita Kitchen, Red Fox Market Place, Wes Wings, and others were inspected, with many issues corrected on site or during follow-ups.    

3. Middletown Juneteenth festival returns to Harbor Park for sixth year (wfsb.com) — Middletown’s Juneteenth Liberation Day Festival returns to Harbor Park this Friday with a morning parade at 10:30 a.m. and a free, daylong celebration open to all. Organizers are emphasizing education about local slave trade history at the riverfront site, along with music, dancing, and a diverse crowd reflecting on the past and present meaning of liberation.    

4. NASCAR Penalty Report: Logano triple whammy adds to Pocono woes (ovalinsider.com) — Middletown native Joey Logano had a rough outing at Pocono, finishing 34th and drawing three separate pit-road penalties that pushed him further from NASCAR’s playoff cut line. The detailed penalty report shows multiple other drivers also ran afoul of NASCAR’s rules during the Great American Getaway 400.
