Bar Among New Businesses Registered In Middletown In August (patch.com) — Middletown saw 40 new business registrations in August, signaling fresh commercial activity across trucking, cleaning, construction, and hospitality. New ventures such as La Boca Group bar, Toll Gate Shire farm and wine bar, and a full-service restaurant add to the city's mix, though state filings don't necessarily mean they are open yet.
2. Middletown pauses Court Street one-way plan after pushback (ncadvertiser.com) — Middletown officials have paused a plan to make all of Court Street one-way westbound after downtown business owners and residents raised safety, parking, and economic concerns. City leaders, including the mayor and council members, are weighing a new traffic study, bus routes, and potential added parking spaces before deciding how to change this busy corridor near Superior Court and City Hall.
3. Roadway Closures and Detours for Steel Bridge Girder Installations on Route 9 in Middletown (ct.gov) — Expect significant traffic changes near Union Street, Harbor Drive, and River Road as Route 9 bridge steel is installed in Middletown, with detours starting September 8 and additional closures around September 10–13. Westbound Union Street traffic will be rerouted, River Road will close overnight for crane work, and access to Harbor Park will remain open, though delays are likely.
4. 'Antonio Carvalho, Recent Work' Exhibition at Pegasus Gallery (ctpublic.org) — An upcoming solo exhibition by painter Antonio Carvalho will open at Pegasus Gallery in Chapman Hall at CT State Middlesex on Training Hill Road in Middletown, running September 10 through October 16. The show explores spiritually reflective themes through still-life, self-portrait, and landscape works, with convenient weekday gallery hours and an opening reception scheduled for September 22.
5. Oddfellows Playhouse - Middletown, CT Patch (patch.com) — Oddfellows Playhouse on Washington Street offers Middletown children and teens theater, circus arts, and after-school programs in a supportive, inclusive setting. With partnerships like Oddbridge with Middletown Public Schools and available financial aid, the nonprofit helps local families access creative opportunities and supervised activities close to home.
