MIDDLETOWN -- Some 23 Middletown High School Distributive Club of America students will compete in the DECA international competition in Anaheim, Calif. after winning awards at the state competition on Feb. 26.
Some 13 students took first places, six won seconds and four took thirds in the competition among 900 students from across the state.
The competitions are in the areas of marketing, management, entrepreneurship and finance. Each student had to take a 100 minute written test, then most had to give two role-play presentations of 10 minutes each. Judging was done by professionals in the appropriate fields.

In the international competition, typically each category will have 500 competitors, said Reynolds. Last year MHS won seven medals at this level.
