Sorted: ID Mail Systems, Inc. Signs $12 Million Dollar Export Deal with Netherlands’ PostNL -Contract will Double jobs at Middletown Manufacturer

Middletown, CT., December 17, 2012 — In an amazing display of interagency cooperation, officials and representatives from six local and national agencies will meet to announce the signing of a $12 Million dollar multi phase export deal by ID Mail Systems, Inc., at its 15,000sq ft. Middletown facility. The event will be held at 10:00am on December 17, 2012 at 180 Johnson Street in Middletown, CT.  ID Mail, with the backing of multiple agency partners, has been able to expand their export capacity in order to meet the challenging requirements of PostNL, the postal operator for The Netherlands. PostNL is a mail and parcel processing company with over 65,000 employees, and 2600 post offices and businesses in the Netherlands alone.  PostNL also supplies the same services through offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Belgium.

ID Mail is a small business which was started in 1997 to provide a variety of identification, processing, and sorting systems for use by mail delivery services.  With the development of their flagship product the Dispatcher MX for Post Denmark, ID Mail was able to bring their innovative approach to letter and flat mail automated sorting to the attention of global postal services, one of which was PostNL.  PostNL was extremely interested in the solution, yet they were initially concerned about the scale of production required for fulfilment their need.  ID Mail immediately sought help from the local community in July of 2012.  Responding to their request for aid, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration local office in Middletown was able to bring together the Small Business Administration, the state of Connecticut, the Middlesex County Revitalization Commission, the Mayor’s office of Middletown, and Liberty Bank.  Each of these partners was able to combine their significant resources and expertise to find a cooperative solution to the problem. With this assistance, ID Mail was able to gather the required significant capital, along with the support of both local, and national government required to close deal. This represents an important success in the local business community, and the reaching of a significant milestone in cooperation between agency representatives at all levels.  The most visible immediate effect of this contract will be an increase in to roughly double the number of current employees, in order to meet higher production demands at ID Mail’s facility.
