Aoife O’Donovan Brings Songs and Strings Tour to the Kate March 1

OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, “the Kate”, is pleased to welcome back Aoife O’Donovan on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 7:30 pm.

Critically lauded musician and songstress Aoife O’Donovan brings her Songs and Strings tour where, alongside a string quartet, she will perform the song cycle “Bull Frogs Croon". Written and developed with Jeremy Kittel and Teddy Abrams, the piece uses stunning text by the late, and former Poet Laureate of Oregon, Peter Sears. The remainder of the evening will mix songs from her expansive career with a few traditional favorites.

O’Donovan recently released “Nebraska,” a cover of the title track from Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album via Yep Roc Records. The track is featured on In The Magic Hour Solo Sessions, a six-song acoustic EP including four songs from In The Magic Hour and a bone-chilling cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Turn Me On, I’m A Radio,” released in November 2019.

Taylor Ashton opens the show. Ashton is the former front man of Vancouver-based progressive folk band Fish & Bird. Now residing in Brooklyn, he recently released his debut solo album, “The Romantic.”
